Ares is an engine for 10×10 international draughts, written in C++. It is developed against the strongest draughts programs, such as Kingsrow and Scan, in long test matches.

Features

  • Protocols — HUB for use in a GUI, DXP for engine-versus-engine play over a network.
  • Search — a multi-threaded alpha-beta search tuned with SPSA over many thousands of games.
  • Endgame databases — Ares comes with its own databases: win/draw/loss for up to 7 pieces and distance-to-win for up to 6 pieces.
  • Opening book — books can be built from PDN games or by drop-out expansion.

Ares-GUI

Ares-GUI is a Qt interface for draughts engines. It can install several HUB and DXP engines, play matches from ballot positions and run round-robin and Swiss tournaments with many games in parallel.
